Louisiana

The Consumer Choice for Television Act, which reforms the video franchise laws that hinder competition, passed in June and took effect August 15, 2008. The new law opens the door to cable competition by assigning franchising authority to the office of the Secretary of State.

With competition in sight, we can now look forward to better cable rates, better service, and innovative technology from new providers who will be rushing to invest in the state and serve consumers.

THANK YOU to the thousands of Louisiana consumers who stood with TV4US in support of cable competition.  You demanded choice in video service and your elected officials listened.   By reforming Louisiana's antiquated video franchising laws, SB 807 will finally give consumers the choice, control and the competition that we deserve.

TV4US applauds the Louisiana Legislature and Governor Jindal for putting an end to cable's long-held monopoly and bringing greater choice, better prices and better service to Louisiana consumers.

Please continue to check back with TV4US Louisiana (http://www.wewantchoice.com/la) often to keep up-to-date on important issues that affect consumers like you!  Thank you.
