Louisiana

The Louisiana state legislature is currently considering HB 1009 and SB 422, the Consumer Choice for Television Act, which will reform the video franchise laws that hinder competition.  Nearly two years ago, the Louisiana State Legislature passed HB 699, the Competitive Cable & Video Services Act, which would have brought competition to the cable TV market, but former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco vetoed the legislation.  That delay has cost consumers in Louisiana nearly $227 million.  Cable rates continue to rise unabated and have increased as much as 65% in the state since 2000.

Take action and let the Legislature know that you want competition and choice when it comes to video service providers.
