Indiana

In March 2006, Indiana passed House Enrolled Act 1279 that transferred franchising authority from various localities to the state. A February 2008 study by the Digital Policy Institute at Ball State University, found that Indiana is already experiencing benefits from competition.  For example, high speed internet services have been expanded by major providers reaching 102 new communities across the state, over 2,200 new jobs have been created and some cable firms are responding to consumer negotiation and beginning to lower prices to maintain customers.
