The Consumer Choice Act of 2007 was passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor in May 2007. The bill streamlined the existing cable franchising process by requiring state authorization to provide cable and video services and benefited existing cable franchise-holders by allowing them to qualify for a state-issued certificate prior to the expiration of their existing agreements.
